Interesting. Certainly good news coming off USC official. Not going to hold my breath on O'Bannon given family ties, but how many guys are UCLA going to take in this class? Should be interesting to see if they potentially pull Liangelo Ball's offer. He does not look like a pac-12 player to me so I hope they keep their commitment to him!

There has been a ton of chatter about how Gelo Ball fits in talent-wise at UCLA; but whatever happens to him ... there is NO WAY that Alford blocks Gelo from signing while Lonzo is on campus and ready to go. The early signing period is in November. Gelo will be signing with UCLA. That I can promise you.

This is true. Alford and Lavar Ball (Their Father) has a gentleman's agreement in this regard. But, also be aware of the Adidas connection between the two which is ultimately going to change with UA.

I think if UCLA continues recruiting at this level Gelo fits on the bench.
I imagine it's a delicate situation. If I were UCLA coaches I would at least take a shot at convincing Gelo & family that going to a place where he'll see more playing time will be better for his long-term career. I would be sick as a UCLA fan knowing that Gelo was blocking some of these other recruits who seem to have legit interest in UCLA.
Question for those tapped into the LA high school scene--is Lavar Ball an influential figure in LA recruiting outside of his sons?

I think the mom might have a bit of influence on O'Bannon's decision. She lives in Las Vegas and obviously wants to see her son play. So it's either going to be NC State (probably the leader because of Gottfriend, who his dad knows from UCLA's staff when he was there) or a home option. I've got a feeling that UCLA is a courtesy and that USC is the home option.

Chino Hills does have talent besides the Ball brothers. Sophomore, Onyeka Oknogwu is rated as one of the top 10 players in his class - a name to keep an eye on as the staff has already offered him a scholarship. However, he doesn't play for Team QJZ instead plays for the Compton Magic.
