Noel Johnson, a Fayetteville, Ga., native, was part of a vaunted recruiting class at USC with Renardo Sidney, Derrick Williams (La Mirada, Calif.) and Lamont Jones (Oak Hill Academy, Va.). Sidney signed with Mississippi State, while the Trojans let Williams and Jones out from their letters of intent.
The magnitude of that class would've just been unreal with the talent already on the roster. Nikola Vucevic being paired up with Derrick Williams would've just been absolutely a nightmare. Momo Jones ended up being a solid player for Iona (after transferring from Zona), believe he was averaging somewhere around the 20's his junior and senior year. Noel Johnson ended up fizzling out and I won't even bother with Renardo, but til this day I still look back and think damn...

The big effect there was to allow Arizona's program to be revitalized while ours was destroyed. If we just held onto Derrick Williams, it could have been different.

Exactly, Chase. Zona hand nobody coming in but instead ended up signing 3 of the players USC lost in Solomon Hill, Momo Jones and Derrick Williams in which two of them ended up being NBA players and one of them had all the intentions of signing with USC despite the sanctions..
